Isuzu 4.5-Tonne Truck Clutch Replacement – Story #78

At Good Day Mobile Mechanic Service, every day brings a different challenge. This time, we received an early morning emergency call from the owner of an Isuzu 4.5-tonne truck. The truck had suddenly lost drive and could no longer move, leaving the owner stranded and unable to continue working.

The first question was simple:

"What's wrong with my truck?"

After discussing the symptoms over the phone, we headed straight to the vehicle for an on-site inspection.

Diagnosing the Problem

Once we arrived, we carried out a thorough inspection and quickly identified the cause. The clutch disc, located between the engine and transmission, had reached the end of its service life. It was no longer able to transfer engine power to the transmission, which explained why the truck wouldn't move even though the engine was running normally.

We immediately contacted the owner, explained the diagnosis, and discussed the repair options. Without hesitation, he asked us to carry out the repair on-site.

A Difficult Repair Environment

This wasn't an easy job.

The truck was parked on a steeply sloped roadside with very limited working space, making the repair both difficult and potentially dangerous. To make matters even more challenging, rain started falling while we were working, and the repair continued well into the evening.

The customer was extremely grateful that we were able to repair the truck where it had broken down. As a kind gesture, he even offered us money for dinner to thank us for the hard work.
